About us
Sharon Rosen Lopez, MA, CCC-SLP is a New York and Connecticut licensed Speech/Language Pathologist with over 25 years experience helping to improve the communication skills of both children and adults.
She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and has twice been awarded the ASHA Award for Continuing Education for her dedicated professional growth.
Although Sharon's focus in graduate school was in adult neurogenic disorders, she got hooked in pediatrics after assuming a position at the Lorge School in Brooklyn just after grad school. Since then, she has worked in preschool, elementary and middle school programs in both New York and Connecticut, accumulating knowledge and skills that have enabled her to help children at all levels of language development. Clinically, Sharon has worked as a speech/language pathologist on the infant-toddler team at the Westchester Institute for Human Development, Westchester County Medical Center, affiliated with New York Medical College. She has worked with Sara Rosenfeld Johnson and is trained in the PROMPT therapy technique.
Sharon opened her pediatric practice, Pediatric Speech and Language Consulting, in 1996. She has lectured in child language development, and maintains membership in several speech/ language organizations.
Ms. Rosen Lopez trained in, and then expanded her offerings into the area of adult communication skills in the workplace. As a Business Communication and Speech Consultant and the owner of Speech Arts --http://www.speecharts.com - she provides training in accent modification, executive communication skills, voice improvement, effective listening and social savvy. She draws on this expertise to help older children looking to develop their interview and presentation skills, or whose shyness impacts their comfort in social interaction and negotiation.
Ms. Rosen Lopez holds a bachelor's degree in French from the University of Wisconsin, and a master's degree in Speech/ Language Pathology from the University of Washington.
